What is Scubbly?

Scubbly is an opportunity to escape the dolrums of reality and plunge into the refreshing world of purchasing digital, downloadable products.

Construction of Scubbly began in the autumn of 2008 in response to disappointment with existing services for selling digital goods. The founder, himself a seller of digital products, tried quite a few other selling platforms and found them either too expensive, too spammy, too awkward, or just plain ugly. Being an accomplished web developer himself, he embarked on a mission to create his own. Scubbly launched in July 2009 as a closed beta test, then in August open to the public.

Scubbly is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, with servers distributed around the world.

What does "Scubbly" mean?

It's a made-up name which is part scuba, part bubbly. It'd be a portmanteau, except that it makes no sense. Be that as it may, Scubbly is a fun name to say aloud. It's even more fun when you overpronounce an imaginary vowel between the B and L, like "scub-ba-lee".
